April Olson

4th Grade

Hi, my name is April Olson. I cannot wait to meet all of you! I feel so honored to be teaching at Scholar Academy this coming school year. It is going to be an amazing year!

I grew up in Salt Lake City, UT. After high-school, I moved to Nebraska to study social work. Go Cornhuskers! One year into my schooling, I headed to the Marshall Islands to volunteer as a sixth-grade teacher. I finished my Bachelor of Social Work degree and relocated to SLC, Utah to work with teen mothers and their babies at the YWCA. I earned a Master of Social Work degree from Andrews University in Michigan. After my graduate studies, I was hired as an On-Site School Therapist for elementary and high school students and their families. In 2007, I sold all of my belongings and moved to Frankfurt, Germany to become an ESL teacher. I fell in love with Germany and was able to work with people from all over the world. I began designing and running my own English courses for children of all ages and abilities. Working at an International Montessori school also gave me a different perspective on working with children. In Thanksgiving 2012, I returned to the U.S. to work as a School-Age Teacher at KinderCare Learning Centers in West Jordan, UT. It has been a year now and I am thrilled to be in Tooele teaching at Scholar Academy.

Wir sehen uns im August!!
