Maria Flores

PE Specialist

Good day, my name is Maria Flores and I am very excited to be Scholar Academy’s new Physical Education Specialist to help students stay active and healthy. I am blessed to be a mother of three wonderful boys (ages 9, 7, & 5). I joined the service (ARMY) back in 2004 (4-year term), and ever since I have been a very active veteran and love to maintain a healthy and fit life style. I earned my Associates of Arts in Psychology in 2011, and earned my bachelors of Science in Psychology in 2015. I moved to Utah in 2013 and started working for the school district in 2014. I have always volunteered at my children’s schools and realized how great it is to work with children. I had the opportunity to work at Northlake Elementary for two years as the English Learners Specialist, AmeriCorp, and as the P.E. Teacher. In addition, I had the opportunity to work very close to the school counselor where I put my psychology skills to work. I love running, as it is a great stress relief for me. I have run from 5k’s to full marathons and earn several medals including 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places throughout my running races. I cannot stress enough the benefits of being fit and eating well, as the human body was designed for activity. I am looking forward to motivate students, teachers, and parents to follow a healthy and active life style at Scholar Academy. Thank you, and have a Healthy Fit Fantastic Day!
