The Tuesday After School (TAS) program is designed to give students a chance to participate in extracurricular activities after school hours.
Each term there is a 6 week session of classes offered to students. These classes can be taught by anyone ie parents, teachers, community members and even older students.
Whomever desires to teach a class may contact the PTO parent over the TAS program for that year whereupon they will be given a form to fill out that describes the details of the class they would like to offer. These details include: which term or terms the class would be offered, how many students will be in the class, what grade those students may be in, an overview of what the activity will consist of, and whether or not there will be a fee associated with the class. Fees may be required for class materials and/ or as payment for the instructor.
If you receive payment for your class (beyond supplies) you may not count your time as volunteer hours. Although it is understandable that many classes will require a fee, volunteers are encouraged to provide classes for free to allow as many students as possible to participate, regardless of their family's financial situation. Classes are held Tuesdays from 3:05-3:55.
Each term there is also a need for additional parent volunteers to help facilitate these classes (no special skills required). Some classes that have been very popular in the past are: kickball, soccer, indoor sports, games (board and card), recycled art, general art.
